We are excited to announce that Tasmania will be welcoming Melanoma Institute Australia to their state for the first time in 2016, with the march taking place in the beautiful coastal city of Devonport on Sunday 28th February.

Devonport is located on Tasmania's North Coast and is the arrival point for a large number of visitors to Tasmania each year, boasting some of the state's best national parks, food and wine experiences, history and heritage.

Melanoma March Devonport will commence at Roundhouse Park on Formby Road (between Best and Oldaker Streets), and follows the Devonport Foreshore Shared Pathway before turning around near the Bluff and returning to Roundhouse Park. After the walk concludes there will be refreshments as well as light entertainment for the whole family.

Raeleen Bound and Angela Kenzie are the dedicated volunteers hosting the 2016 Melanoma March in Devonport. Raeleen, Angela and their families are hoping to raise funds and awareness to help change the outcome and quality of life of people living with this disease. The local committee and the team at Melanoma Institute Australia encourage everyone to join in on the march to one day find a cure!

GETTING THERE:

There is plenty of parking available with the nearest options being the Best Street Car Park and Formby Road Car Parks. There is also limited street parking available. For bus and train timetables, please visit the Tassielink Transit website.

WHAT TO WEAR

We encourage all Melanoma Marchers to practice their sun safety while taking part in this event. Sunscreen will be available at all events, but we suggest that you apply your sunscreen before leaving home. Participants are also encouraged to dress appropriately with sun safe clothing, hats and sunglasses and remember your comfortable shoes.

CAN YOU HELP?

As a not-for-profit organisation, these events are all run by volunteers. All profits go directly toward funding research projects of national importance. If you or your business has the capacity to help with the organisation of the event (printing flyers, sharing on social media, loaning pop-up marquees to the organisers etc.) it would be greatly appreciated. Please email us if you would like to make a difference.
