Penrith is excited to welcome Melanoma Institute Australia to their town for the first time in March 2016, as the community bands together to march toward a cure! Melanoma March Western Sydney will take place from Jamison Park in Penrith and is hosted by Debbie Henry. Debbie is a melanoma survivor and has the seen the lives of the people she loves taken from this terrible disease.

 

Melanoma March Western Sydney will commence from the sports field at the corner of York and Jamison Road (parking via York St) and follows a loop around the entire park. The walk will participants twice around the beautiful Jamison Park which is approximately 4km.

 

Participants of the event are welcome to march, walk, stroll or event run the event. We encourage runners to make their way to the front of the pack at the start of the event. Please note; this is not a timed event.

 

The committee are hoping to raise funds and awareness to change the outcome and quality of life for people living with melanoma. Debbie and the team at Melanoma Institute Australia encourage you all to get involved and march to one day find a cure.

 

GETTING THERE

Jamison Park is located off Jamison Road and is in walking distance to bus stops and Penrith Train Station. Parking is available around the park but has limited availability.

 

 

WHAT TO WEAR

We encourage all Melanoma Marchers to practice their sun safery while taking part in this event. Sunscreen will be available at all events but we suggest you apply your sunscreen before leaving home. Participants are also encouraged to dress appropriately with sun safe clothing, hats and sunglasses, and remember your comfortable shoes.

 

CAN YOU HELP?

As a not-for-profit organisation these events are all run by volunteers. All profits go towards funding research projects of national importance. If you or your business has the capacity to help with the organisation of the event (printing flyers, sharing on social media, loaning pop-up marquees to the organisers etc.) it would be greatly appreciated.
